Tropical Storm Simon’s rainfall is expected to spread into portions of the U.S. desert Southwest and could cause flash flooding and mud slides. Rough surf is battering the coast of Mexico’s Baja California and will be felt along parts of southern California’s coast Oct. 6 and 7.
